2016 Summer Adventure #2 - Grand Haven

This past weekend we spent in Grand Haven, MI. We had a little rustic cabin for the weekend that was perfect for our family of four. We got in Thursday night and settled in, and Friday morning we met up with the Raddatz Family at Michigan's Adventure Amusement and Water park. This was our second year going and we get there when it opens at 11 and we don't leave until 9 when they close. The kids are troopers and always have a blast.

This year was a bit warmer than it was last year, so we spent more time on the water rides and in the water park. What was neat was that each of the four kids were a different height - exactly 2 inches apart each. Alex was 42", Evan 44", Nathan 46" and Lauren 48". There were a few more rides that Alex was able to ride this year and he loved every one of them.

We rode the log ride as a family this year and let's just say the picture says it all.

I also rode the 2 wooden coasters with Lauren and Derek - and probably won't ever again! LOL They are rough! But I am glad I rode them.

Evan's favorite ride was the helicopter ride and we all got to ride Grand Rapids as a group - which was one of my favorite moments of the day. I love this trip. 1. Because the park is perfect for our kids ages right now. 2. You get rides and a water park all in one. 3. We get to go with our best friends and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Rachel took this one, I have no idea what is going on but I love it!

Saturday we all spent the day at the campground. We grilled out, played putt putt (Alex took his first go-kart ride) and swam in the pools. Finally we ended the night by going downtown and watching the Musical Fountain. The weather was perfect and I didn't want the weekend to end. I am already looking forward to next year!

Evan loses his first tooth!

Evan lost his first tooth on June 14, 2016 at school. I was there that day delivering cupcakes to celebrate his and Alex's birthday when I heard one of the girls yell "Evan just lost his tooth!" I was more than thrilled to be there to capture the excitement! The kids as you can see were pretty excited as well. The tooth fairy visited our house for the first time that night and left Evan $2 under his pillow. Big day for my little man!

The End of Kindergarten

June 16, 2016

I completely forgot to post the pictures from the end of the year party last Thursday. It was a carnival themed party and the kids had so much fun. A perfect way to end a perfect year. I officially have 2 first graders now. :(

Kindergarten Graduation

Yesterday was Alex and Evan's Kindergarten Graduation. I cannot even begin to tell you how happy I am with their first year of elementary school. They had an amazing teacher (Mrs. Barry) and the kids in the class were just wonderful...every single one. I began volunteering weekly back in October, so I have had an opportunity to get to know and love the kids. They are all so nice and polite and I never once saw any one of them being mean to another. So many of them looked forward to being Alex's buddy and yesterday at Graduation when asked what her favorite part of Kindergarten was, Abigayle said being Alex's buddy was. I teared up immediately. They have all grown in their own ways and I feel proud to be a part of their Kindergarten year. I wish the whole class could move onto first grade together, but they can't. So I hope that first grade will be just as good. I cannot believe I will have two first graders after today.

The kids preformed 4 different plays. Alex and Evan were in the same play called Little Red Hen. Evan was the Narrator, Mackenzie was Little Red Hen, Alex was the dog, Aiden was the cat, Alexis was the pig and Lawrence was the duck. They all did such a nice job! Mrs. Polasek sat behind Alex and handed him a machine that when he pressed the button, it said his line for him. He wasn't all into it because he wasn't feeling well. :(

After the plays, the kids left for a minute and came back in with their little caps and each accepted a certificate from Mrs. Barry and she shared with us what their favorite part of Kindergarten was and what they wanted to be when they grow up.

Alex's favorite part of Kindergarten was music in the morning. He wants to be a musician when he grows up.

Evan's favorite part of Kindergarten was play time and playing with his friends. He wants to work at McDonald's when he grows up because he likes making food for people. (LOL!) He is such a character!

After that, we watched a video compilation of the year in pictures. It was really nice!

My Mom and Dad came as well as Eric's Mom and Dad.

We are so proud of both boys. They have had such a great year and grown so much! Hard to believe that our little preemies are going to be 6 years old a month from today and starting first grade in September. Time goes fast so it is important to enjoy every single moment.

Today, is their end of the year party. Unfortunately Alex is home with me this morning because he is not feeling well. I am hoping to take him to the party this afternoon so he can see his friends one last time.
