Finding a Healthy Balance
A new year is here to bring new beginnings, changes and a fresh start. Let me tell you, I need a fresh start. I think everyone could always find an area they'd like to improve upon. I have many but my most important one would be family.
My family is wonderful. I am very blessed but the stress, frustration and lack of sleep leave me feeling overwhelmed - A LOT. Since becoming a mother three and a half years ago, all of these factors have grown increasingly bigger and in turn left me in a state I never wanted to be in. My irritability is off the charts, my patience is super thin and my "me time" is very minimal.
Last year my goal was to enjoy my life. I had many good moments and made a lot of wonderful memories but overall I feel like I failed. I didn't enjoy my life the way I wanted to. I have since realized that I have far too much going on at all times and that in order to make that happen for myself, I need a healthy balance.
So, this year I am seeking that healthy balance. I need that so I can be a better mother, a better wife and overall a better person. I want to yell at my kids less, spend more time with my husband and be able to do a couple of things for myself.
All of my time and energy goes into my job; being a housewife and stay at home mom. I am very fortunate to be able to do both and take care of my family, but I need to free up a little bit of that time to so things I want to do - not what I need to do or am expected to do.
Eric's job has become a bit more demanding and he has gone back to school after taking a year off. His time is even more limited than before so finding this healthy balance is even more challenging.
Our family goals are to have more date nights between Eric and I and to go out and do something fun/different as a family at least once a month - outside of our normal routine. This month we did the Shrine Circus and in February we are going away to a Hotel for a couple of nights to swim and have some fun!
2014 is going to be a year of change for our family and I am looking forward to the results!
