Photo Friday

Alex and Evan bring home so many cute projects and paintings from school on a weekly basis, but this week they brought home two of my favorites for Thanksgiving next week.

I threw this one in as a bonus because it was so cute of them standing together.

Photo Friday

This is a day late, but here it is nonetheless. Yesterday we took a trip back to the Flint Children's Museum, but this time we took our friends Blake and Casey. It was a hit once again. The boys all had a blast! Let me just say what a blessing it is to have met Blake and Casey. I swear these 4 boys were meant to be friends! We always have so much fun when we are together!

Sweet Little Moments

Let me start out by saying that having two 3 year olds in the house these days means that there is never a dull moment or a quiet moment for that matter. They are LOUD, they are FUNNY and oh so CUTE.

There is daily whining and crying and sometimes a tantrum, but then there are sweet little moments like these:

-Earlier today, I walked into their play room and they were lying side by side on their bellies watching Mickey Mouse. The picture isn’t the best, but it is all I could get before they saw me!

-The other night when Alex was coughing really hard, I had to bring him downstairs to get him some water; Evan followed behind walked up to Alex and said “It will be ok Brother”.

-Alex sits in the chair with his toy and when it goes crashing to the floor, Evan runs over and picks it up for him.

-There are nights when Evan is really tired and wants to go to sleep but Alex will be up making noise and we will hear him “sshhh...Quiet Alex" and after about 3 or 4 times, Alex will start laughing at Evan “ssshhhing” him.

-Tonight when we were in the car, Evan asked Alex to hold his hand.

Alex may not walk or crawl, but he can get around a room pretty well by rolling. Sometimes he rolls to Evan just to try and tug on his shirt or if his hair is nearby, he WILL pull it. Evan gets really upset and tells him to keep his hands on his own body (which is something he is taught in preschool). They fight like brothers and they love like brothers and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Evan is quite the storyteller these days. He is VERY animated and downright hilarious when he is trying to tell us a story. He really gets his hands going and his eyebrows are up in a very serious form! Before they go to bed, we always read a couple of books and then talk about our day. I am so proud to share that Evan can read the book “Bears in the Night” from start to finish! He’s been doing that now for about a month and he isn’t even three and a half yet. The other day at school his teacher spelled out his name and he knew it was his, and she spelled out Alex’s name and he said “That’s brother”. He is such a smart little cookie.

There isn’t a day that goes by when Alex’s smile doesn’t make my day. He can walk into a room and just brighten it up. I haven’t met anyone that doesn’t like him. The kids at school flock to him and he has a “girlfriend” on the school bus. Her name is Peyton and she is about 7 or 8. She can’t wait for the bus driver to buckle him in so she can move over and sit next to him. She is so pretty and so sweet and I think it is adorable how much she likes Alex.

Having twins has changed my life in so many ways. It is much harder now than it was 2 or 3 years ago. Having 2 infants is a breeze to having 2 toddlers! It is so stressful, but I know that it won’t last forever and I try my hardest to enjoy every little moment with them. The sweet moments do make a hard day a little easier.

"Super" Photo Friday

Of Course the day after Halloween just happens to be a Friday, so it's only right to feature our fun Halloween Photos today. Alex and Evan had a blast trick or treating despite the wind and rain. Lucky for us, it was warm so we were able to tolerate it a little longer this year. Their Super Mario Bros  costumes were perfect for them! People would pass us on the street and make comments and all of the neighbors loved them! Alex made our day when he reached into the bowls of candy to pick out what he wanted, then dropped it in his bucket! (Proud Moment) Evan wasn't shy, he went for multiple pieces!!!

Euro-Peds Reunion

On October 6, 2013 we attended the Euro-Peds annual reunion for current and former patients of the program. There were all kinds of fun activities for the kids and Alex got to ride around on an adaptive bike the whole time. Ronald McDonald made an appearance as did Cha Cha the frog from Rainforest Café. Evan liked Cha Cha a little too much and wouldn't leave him alone! They had a balloon activity which Alex loved! It was a fun afternoon and we are happy that we were able to be a part of it.

Photo Friday

Today we went as a family on a field trip with Alex's class to Upland Hills Farm in Oxford, MI. The boys got to feed ducks, touch a chicken, rabbit, calf, cow, pig, horse and a week old bunny. We took a hayride into the woods where we got to walk through a "Story" and at the end, Eric and Evan picked some pumpkins. (Alex fell asleep on the hayride back) It was fun, but as always a lot of work with Evan. Please enjoy the pictures from our adventure below.
